Students Clean Up with a Lunchtime Scavenger Hunt  -  Kate Hemphill 9C

Thursday 5 June was World Environment Day! Our whole school got involved in a rubbish scavenger hunt at lunch to care for our common home. All they had to do was collect as much litter as possible from around the school grounds and put it into bags. Then, we weighed the rubbish-filled bags to find out whose was the heaviest. It was a fun and active way to help clean up our school while also doing something good for the planet and caring for our world.

It was awesome seeing so many students running around with gloves and bags, really getting into it and working together. Lots of people got very competitive and teamed up in groups to try to get the most rubbish they possibly could. It was great to see so much effort being put into helping the environment.

A big congratulations to Alice McKenzie and Cara Courtney, whose bag weighed the most and took out first place and won a $25 canteen voucher! You did an amazing job!

We also want to say a huge thank you to everyone who participated. And a special thanks to Mrs Cincotta, Mrs Violante, the Green Team and the Sustainability Leaders who helped organise the event.
