The Senior Girls Team departed SHC on Friday 30 May to represent our school in football. They played a strong four quarters, with a few Year 10s joining in to support. Lots of goals were scored with an unfortunate loss. The girls had a brilliant game, and put up a strong fight. Their skills and teamwork shined bright and most of all they all had lots of fun for their final year at SHC!
The Year 9 and 10 Intermediate Girls Football Team had a cracker of a day on Friday 30 May, with one win and one loss. They won their first game against Wallan, with a whopping 50 points on them and some amazing team work and effort was put in. With the little amount of practice they did as a team, they really came together throughout the match and played an awesome game!
We had a lot of fun rotating the positions and letting all the girls try out different areas on the oval. Their second game they played Mount Ridley College where they played hard and fought well, but sadly not quite getting there in the end. There was some amazing play in the second game with lots of the inexperienced girls getting lots of ball time and really trying their hardest, despite not fully knowing how to play. It was awesome to see all the girls lifting each other up and having a great time, even though they lost. The sportsmanship was fantastic and it was lovely to see so many of the girls have such a good time.
The Juniors Girls had an awesome day with two wins and only one loss at the end. Sadly, they didn't make it to the next round, but they fought hard and had some great clearances and play. They showed lots of great sportsmanship and it was terrific to see them all putting in their best efforts. Their teamwork and determination was amazing, and we loved to see so many junior girls having a kick and enjoying themselves.
The Year 8 boys participated in the first round of the interschool AFL on Tuesday 3 June. It was a very chilly day at Roxburgh Park, and luckily the forecast rain managed to hold off until the end.
The first game played in the pool was against Mount Ridley College. It was a very dominant performance by Sacred Heart as we won twelve goals to one point.
Next up was a game against Wallan and we managed to win six goals to one.
The last game was a final against the winners of the two pools. Sacred Heart was up against its neighbours Kyneton Secondary College. It was a slow start but our boys picked up the pace and had a clear win with seven goals to one. Sacred Heart College are through to the next round of competition which will be announced later this year. Well done boys!
Year 8 Soccer - Sierra Benedict
There were illnesses on the day that prevented the boys from having a full team, but while they faced these challenges and didn't secure victories in their matches, their commitment, perseverance and sportsmanship was evident throughout the day. In true team spirit, some of the girls even stepped forward to play for the boys!
The girls' team showcased exceptional skill and determination, winning majority of their games and advancing to the finals of their competition. Although they were narrowly defeated by two goals, their journey to the final was a testament to their hard work and talent they were able to perform on the day. Special thanks to Sierra and Rhys for the guidance they conducted as coaches and the advice the team heard from the sidelines.
