Josh King comes to SHC!

Last Tuesday, our VCE VM class was visited by professional NRL player Josh King. Josh currently plays for the Melbourne Storm and played his 200th NRL game a few weeks ago.

Josh came in to talk to us about his trade background as a qualified electrician and the importance of having something to fall back on if things do not work out. One piece of advice Josh shared was, “If you’re going to do something, you may as well give it a crack.”

We then went out to the oval to do some drills, passing the footy and practicing communication and teamwork. We then came back to the classroom to talk about the importance of taking care of your mental health. Josh mentioned three things he has realised from playing professional sport that can support your mental health. These were practicing gratitude, talking to professionals, and surrounding yourself with people who bring out the best in you.
