Prayer
Praise to you, Creator God for the Indigenous peoples of your world.
Those who have sought your Spirit of truth in their ancient cultures,
and who have walked gently upon the earth.
In our acknowledgement of their historic pain, their dispossession and oppression,we seek to act more justly, long to love more tenderly,
and yearn to walk in greater humility with them.
Help us to cross the bridge of opportunity built by Aboriginal people in this land under the Southern Cross.
Grant us a new experience of their many gifts through your healing grace.
Come, Holy Spirit, renew your whole creation and bring your peace to all cultures in the richness of their diversity through Jesus Christ Our Lord.

This week’s prayer was prepared by the College FIRE Carrier students (Friends Igniting Reconciliation through Education) and follows the recent celebration of NAIDOC week across the country. At Sacred Heart College, we remember the call to walk gently and justly on the journey of reconciliation. We recognise the special place of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, who have cared for the land, waters, and sky for more than 60,000 years, and we honour their deep spiritual connection to Country.
Term 3 commenced with a student-free day allowing staff to complete the annual Faith Formation Day. The day was facilitated internally and focused on two themes: (i) the Christian ideal of the Human Person which underlies the fundamental premise of education at Sacred Heart, educating the whole person; and, (ii) how this ideal informs a range of learning and wellbeing programs at the College including consent, respectful relationships and the school’s social justice initiatives. Congratulations to Mr Saul Travers-Hucker for his leadership of the day and the SHC staff who led the various sessions.
A reminder to all families that the annual Student Wellbeing Professional Learning Day is scheduled for next Friday 31 July with no classes for Year 7 – 12 students. The day is focusing on the College’s Restorative Practice program which guides all wellbeing and behavioural management at Sacred Heart College.
Mobile Phone Free School
Thank you to all parents and families for the support offered as the College’s new mobile phone quarantine program is introduced. The arrangements for students each day are working well and the College’s leadership will continue to update families on progress in coming weeks.

Subject Selection and Subject Expo
This week, Quambi has been the epicentre of much excitement and discussions with students in Year 9 – 11 determining their subjects and pathways for 2027. In particular, Wednesday evening’s Senior School Subject & Pathways Expo was a highlight with the breadth of the school’s Senior School subject offerings on display. Prospective students and parents were able to talk with the subject teachers, Learning Area Leaders, as well as current students completing these subjects. Alongside the subject offerings, the Expo also included a large number of displays from tertiary institutions, the Australian Defence Force, Victoria Police etc.

The College has published its annual 'At The Heart' magazine. This fabulous publication is a snap shot of activities in Semester One.
SHC Prospective Teaching Staff Information Day
As many in the community will be aware, Victoria is struggling with significant teacher shortages and the prospect that such shortages will continue for the next few years. Sacred Heart College has been privileged to continue to attract high quality teaching applicants over recent years; a trend that reflects the College’s excellent reputation as well as the opportunities available in the Macedon Ranges.
However, the College needs to be proactive in ensuring that high quality applicants continue to join the College as enrolment numbers increase. To support this, Sacred Heart College will be holding an Information Session for prospective teaching staff. This will allow prospective staff to see the College, meet senior staff and hear about the school and our plans moving forward.
I encourage any members of the Sacred Heart College community who are teachers or may have friends in the teaching profession to consider registering for the event. It is being held on Saturday 8 August 2026 from 11.00am – 12.30pm. Full details will be available on the College website.
Bereavement: Your prayers are asked for the Smith family on the recent passing of Maureen Moffat, grandmother of Lachlan Year 8 and Riley Year 9. Our thoughts are with your family at this sad time.
