News from the P E Classroom

During Term 2 the Year 10 PE classes have been learning about the creation of specific training programs to meet the needs of an athlete or client. To finish the topic, they had to create their own Training Programs as an Assessment Task. To finish off the term we have joined in with a Pilates class at SHC and an Aqua Aerobics class at the Kyneton Aquatic Centre to demonstrate two organised training program activities that are designed to meet a fitness goal.

Pilates:

Shelly Knott, a local Pilates instructor lead a full body workout for the students to show how a training program can focus on bodyweight strength and does not need to be high intensity outdoor exercise. The students struggled their way through stretches and bodyweight exercises to enjoy their full workout. A big thank you to Shelly for volunteering her time. A few sore muscles the next day!

Aqua Aerobics:

The Kyneton Aquatic Centre led both classes in a general fitness aqua session aimed at supporting the maintenance of physical abilities. The students worked hard in the pool (they were not easy workouts) in a full session created for beginners.

The students enjoyed the opportunities and have a new appreciation for consistent participators in Pilates and Aqua Aerobics classes!
