Recently we held our first onsite SHCK Junior Japanese Speech Contest. Students from Year 7 and 8 were invited to nominate themselves to enter the competition. They were required to recite their self-introduction off by heart that they had been learning in class. We had a total of 11 participants, with their peers as members of the audience. We were fortunate also to have our Acting Principal and Head of Junior School be a part of this event. Although they were not able to understand much, they were very impressed by the level of the students Japanese in such a short time.
We would like to thank Mr Carroll and Mr Weir for attending and presenting the certificates and prizes to the students.
Thank you to the generosity of the Japan Foundation Contest Prize Grant the College received we were able to award 1st, 2nd and 3rd place with manga, Pokémon and friend’s key chains and Doraemon gel click pens.
The competition was judged by our team of Japanese teachers and assistant teacher whom all found it extremely challenging to award places considering the high level.
We would like to thank our Japanese teachers and assistant teacher for taking on the difficult task of judging and the making event such a success. We look forward to holding similar events in the future for both Japanese and French.
