The Junior School Showcase provides an opportunity to view the  amazing project work of our Junior School students, including:

  • Year 7 Portfolios
  • Year 8 Making a Difference Research Work
  • Year 9 Major Projects
  • Years 7 - 9 Art & Design Exhibition

More information on each of these areas is provided below.

Year 7 - ‘My Learning Journey’ Portfolios

Throughout Terms 3 and 4, students in Year 7 work on a project to chronicle and reflect on their experiences at Sacred Heart College. The portfolio they create is called ‘My Learning Journey’ and includes personal reflections on key experiences such as transition activities, their first day at their new school, Year 7 Camp, Reflection Day, the Mercy value of Respect as well as their learnings from class. Students exhibit their portfolios and welcome the opportunity to talk to visitors about their experiences as the newest members of the Sacred Heart Community.

Year 8 - ‘Make a Difference’ (MAD) Inquiry Project

The MAD Inquiry Project is a significant part of the Year 8 students study of Religious Education. This project invites students to choose an environmental or social issue to research and investigate across a four month period, in their Religious Education classes. The project aims to encourage students to learn about an issue while also identifying ways that they can each can Make a Difference, whether this be through informing others about the issue at a local or community level, or making steps towards improvement or change. Ultimately it reminds us that there are many ways that individuals can Make a Difference.

Year 9 - Major Projects

The Year 9 Expo Project is a longstanding tradition at Sacred Heart College. Each year, students pursue an area of their own passion and interest to produce project items that celebrate their unique gifts and talents. The project fosters skills in planning, time-management, and design, with the presentation evening at the Junior School Showcase being a celebration of all that has been achieved. On the night of the showcase, you can expect to find Quambi (the College sports centre) and the Atrium full to capacity with refurbished furniture, remodelled cars, upcycled fabrics, original photography and works of art, an array of handmade items and everything else in between. It's an experience not to be missed!

Years 7, 8 & 9 - Art & Design Exhibition

Year 7, 8 and 9 students apply themselves throughout the year to create beautiful works of Art and Design. Buckley, our Art Department, will feature displays of student work from Year 7 -9 Art, Visual Communication & Design, Media and Textiles. Come along and check out the creativity of Junior School Art and Design students.
