Each year since 1999 Sacred Heart College Kyneton has taken a group of Year 9 students on the Great Victorian Bike Ride (GVBR). The GVBR is a nine day cycle adventure/tour organised by Bicycle Network covering approximately 570km and undertaken by up to 5000 people a year. Although the ride is challenging, it is well within the reach of those willing to prepare for the event.
The ride follows a different route each year, taking in many wonderful regional areas of Victoria. Our students train hard, starting in Term 2 each year, so that they are cycle fit enough and have the required cycling skills and knowledge to complete the ride. Each year the students, teaching staff and parent helpers have a fantastic time completing the ride.
Darren was appointed Principal of Sacred Heart College in January 2019. Darren has had almost 30 years experience in teaching and leadership across a number of Victorian Catholic secondary schools. The purpose of the Catholic school is to provide “… an authentic Christian education, where students are called to embrace the essence of the Gospels, to flourish as whole human persons” and “… to provide exemplary learning experiences for the students who attend”.
