The weather was splendid for the Year 11 Retreat. This was the first time that the Retreat focus was volunteering and service to others. The students spent a day in Melbourne, volunteering at a number of organisations such as Sacred Heart Mission, St Mary’s House of Welcome, Brotherhood of St Laurence and the Melbourne Period Project. The day began with an inner city walk exploring a different story to what we would ordinarily know; homelessness, land ownership and Corporate wealth. The other day was volunteering in Land Care around Kyneton. The students planted 300 trees on the river and worked hard at Bald Hill Reserve, Campaspe Downs and the Malmsbury Botanical Gardens. The feedback from the students was very positive as they experienced something that they usually would not have done.
