As part of our Personal Development course for Applied Learning (VCAL) we organised for Sacred Heart College to enter a team in the local Kyneton Relay for Life event which is run by the Cancer Council. First we came up with the name, SHC Lifesavers, we advertised for participants to join and then we registered our team. We were on our way! After many weeks of organisation the event was held on Friday night, 2 November.
Thirteen students and seven staff members represented SHC Lifesavers: we walked all night and it was freezing, but seeing the sunrise in the morning was amazing. We all did it for a reason, and the reason was to raise as much money as we could for the Cancer Council, and when we finished we felt amazing as we had done something for the community.
So far, SHC Lifesavers have raised nearly $900 and together with the money raised from the Casual Clothes Day we anticipate the donations will bring our tally up to the $2000 mark!
