130th Anniversary – Planting of the Catherine McAuley Rose

On Monday 29 July,  Sacred Heart College, Kyneton celebrated its 130th Anniversary. On this day we reflected on the Sisters of Mercy who, under the leadership of Reverend Mother Mary Gabriel Sherlock, and having only arrived in the township days earlier, opened a Secondary School.

Originally located in Wedge Street with just 24 day students, the school moved to its current site in 1907 and became known as Sacred Heart Convent School.

On Monday our College paused in prayer to reflect on the years past and our Senior and Junior Captains planted a Catherine McAuley rose in recognition of this milestone and in remembrance of Catherine the foundress of the Sisters of Mercy.
