Restorative Practices, as an approach to behavior management, is based upon Restorative Justice which means that any harm done to people and relationships needs to be explored and that harm needs to be repaired. It aims to achieve positive outcomes for students, teachers, caregivers and the whole school community.
Restorative Practices involves the development and enhancement of relationships between the people who make up the school community. This approach helps students learn from their mistakes, reconcile to resolve problems with others. A key aim is to reduce harm and fix ‘damage’ caused by inappropriate behaviour.
The Restorative School places strong emphasis on Relationships, Responsibility and Relevance.
